Frequently asked

The questions
we get most weeks.

If yours isn't here, send it through — we'll come back the same working day.

Do I need planning permission?

Almost certainly not. Domestic chargers under 0.2m³ in volume are permitted development, providing the unit doesn't face a highway. We'll flag the exception on the survey if you're in a conservation area.

Will my current supply handle it?

Most standard 100A domestic supplies do — even with an electric oven, shower and hob running. We use load-managed chargers as standard so the supply is protected. If we think you need a supply upgrade, we'll say so before we quote.

What's the OZEV grant?

The EVHS grant ended for owner-occupiers in 2022. It still applies to flats, rental properties and commercial premises — up to £350. We submit on your behalf.

Can you fit a charger to a rental?

Yes — you'll need written landlord consent and we'll handle the OZEV grant paperwork. We can speak to the landlord directly if it speeds things up.

Can the cable be hidden?

Almost always. We've routed cables through cavity walls, behind skirting, under floorboards, and through outbuildings. It costs no more — it just takes the survey to plan.
