Sitework is a web design service for UK trade businesses. We collect only the information needed to deal with an enquiry and, if you become a client, to deliver and support your website.
1. Who is responsible for your data?
Sitework is operated by Jacob Orsborn-Smith, a sole trader trading as Sitework in the United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the information described in this policy.
For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, email support@sitework.uk.
2. What we collect
When you use the enquiry form, we collect the details you enter: your name, what your business does, the area you cover, your phone number, and an email address if you choose to provide one. We may also hold any business details, photos, copy or other material you send us while discussing or delivering a project.
We do not ask for card or bank details through this website. Please do not send special-category personal data, such as health information, through the enquiry form.
Like most websites, our hosting providers may also process limited technical information needed to deliver and secure the site, such as IP address, browser and server-log data.
3. Why we use it
| Purpose | Our lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Reply to your enquiry and prepare requested mockups | Taking steps at your request before entering a contract. |
| Build, host and support a website you commission | Performing our contract with you. |
| Keep sensible enquiry, client and financial records, and protect the site | Our legitimate interests in operating and protecting Sitework, or compliance with a legal obligation where one applies. |
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use enquiry details for newsletters, advertising audiences or unsolicited marketing.
4. Who processes it
We use a small number of service providers to run the website and the enquiry process:
- Vercel, which hosts this website and runs the form endpoint.
- Supabase, which securely stores enquiry submissions.
- Google Fonts, which supplies the fonts used on this site. When your browser requests a font, Google may receive technical information such as your IP address.
These providers process information to provide their services. We may also share information where the law requires it or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
5. International transfers
Some of our providers may process information outside the UK. Where that happens, they use safeguards recognised by UK data protection law, such as adequacy regulations or contractual protections. You can ask us for more detail about the safeguards relevant to your information.
6. How long we keep it
We keep unsuccessful enquiries for up to 24 months, then delete them unless there is a genuine reason to retain them longer. We keep client and financial records for as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal or accounting obligations, normally up to six years after the relevant financial year.
7. Cookies and similar technologies
Sitework does not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. We use only technologies needed for the site and form to function securely. If that changes, we will update this policy and provide the appropriate controls before setting non-essential cookies.
8. Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access, correct, erase or restrict the use of your personal data. You can object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and you may have a right to data portability where the law applies. To make a request, email us at support@sitework.uk. We aim to respond within one month.
You can also complain to the UK regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office. We would appreciate the chance to resolve any concern first.
9. Children and automated decisions
Sitework is for business owners and people authorised to enquire on a business's behalf. It is not aimed at children, and you must be 18 or over to use the enquiry form. We do not make decisions about you solely by automated means.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the service or the law changes. The date at the top tells you when it was last revised.
